Saturday, October 22, 2005

9:00 am to 10:30 am

A. Tessellations (Grades K-3)

Alice Maurer

Explore the fascinating world of M.C. Escher and tessellations! Create your own geometric designs while you learn about polygons, patterns, symmetry, and angles!

B. Vermont Institute of Natural Science: Animal Skulls and
Pelts
(Grades K-3)

C. Junk Music with The Junkman (Grades 4 – 9)

Donald Knaack

Learn to make something from nothing. Take objects that others have discarded and use them to make music that people want to hear. Join The Junkman in making music and improvisation using recycled materials as music instruments. Prior music experience is not necessary.

D. Writing Nature (Grades 4-9)

Kathy Quimby Johnson

Your senses will guide your exploration of the natural world in the magnificent setting that Killington provides. If the weather cooperates, we will spend some time outdoors. If not, aspects of nature will come to us, so that we can catch the spirit of this place on this day, eventually putting it into words.

E. Origami (Grades 7-9)

Rebecca Jensen

You’ve folded cranes and water bombs, but have you made a dodecahedron, a stellated octahedron or an icosahedron? Explore the world of unit origami—creating origami models using multiple pieces of paper all folded identically.
